1. Describe some perceptions and observations present in your thinking regarding your chosen
topic.
[ My chosen topic is mental health. It is an important topic to general society that will remain until
improved and minimized. It is an issue that leads to many consequences if not treated. I am a living
example of this and continue to face challenges with my mental health every day. I’m a fulltime college
student and work fulltime, and I tend to lose sleep every night finding ways to excel myself and help
others. I tend to put others before me in return of nothing, sometimes a headache in exchange. I don’t
complain or expect much now and tend to move on for the sake of my mental health, but back then I
really struggled to find a way to help myself and overcome stressful situations thrown at me. I’m young
myself, but as much as stress affected my mental health, I slowly learned about myself and found my
ways which lead to me helping those around me that can relate to what I went through.]
2. Explain your own biases regarding the topic you chose for your project.
[ Mental health is an important topic to all of society that will remain until improved and minimized. For
some it brings character and for many it breaks character. I experienced both through my life countless
of times and still counting, also learned from others experience in their lives. It should be normalized to
speak about your mental struggles and your weaknesses, but with the right audience of people. For me
it was my lifelong friends and my mother. As much as we think sometimes, we can do everything and
handle many things ourselves, we cannot, we’re only human, and just as vulnerable. My suggestion to
all is to not bottle-up your problems and situations that will lead to mental health problems and
eventually destruction of yourself or others around you. Utilize your resources around you from
environment, people, and small things that only you know that will fix your problem or minimize the
situation. For the sake of your mental health.
