P4- Safe waste disposal
Commercial waste
Commercial waste is a type of waste which is comes from specific environments. The environment
includes trade sites, offices, recreation centre, educational environments and entertainment
environments. Furthermore, business waste which includes construction, agriculture and demolition
is commercial waste. Any waste produced by these environments are classed as commercial waste.
Home waste is not included as commercial waste.
Requirements of safe waste disposal.
The first requirement of safe waste disposal is not to dispose a lot of waste and try to dispose less.
You should try to prevent disposing waste and instead you could try to reuse the waste within your
company. If you cannot reuse the waste or prevent from disposing the waste, you should consider
recycling the waste which someone else could re-use the waste. Finally, instead if disposing you
could recover the waste and use for making other things.
Second, requirement of safe waste disposal is sorting and store waste safely and securely. When
following this requirement, you must keep the waste you’re disposing in a safe place. Also, you must
put the disposing waste in a container where it cannot get loose and, on those containers, it must
clearly state the type of waste in that container. Waterproof covers should be used in case the waste
gets wet preventing it from getting reused.
Another requirement is Waste transfer note. This must be followed when disposing waste by
providing a waste transfer note for each pack of non-hazardous waste. On the transfer note both
businesses must fill the sections on the note and then sign it. Your business and the business taking
the waste must do this.
You must make sure the person who is carrying your waste is registered to dispose of waste. If you
find out that the carrier is not registered, you must not let them carry your waste as this will be
illegal. When finding out report them to crime stoppers which is a website where you report people
committing crimes.
Producers and holders have requirements that must be followed. If a business produces hazardous
waste, storing hazardous waste and has hazardous removed from its premises they must follow
certain requirements. These requirements are classifying your waste, separating, and storing
hazardous waste safely. Furthermore, they must fill the consignment note and kEep records for 3
years.
Requirements of hazardous waste disposal.
A carrier must follow requirements when disposing hazardous waste. This requires carriers to
register as a waste carrier and this is a must. If you carry hazardous waste without registration, you
could be reported and fined £5000. The carrier must separate the waste correctly when carrying it to
the disposal area. Furthermore, you must fill the consignment form which is just a section for
hazardous waste carriers.
