Explain how control measures are used to prevent accidents.

In the above image a control measure has been listed to prevent an accident with a machine arm.
The control measure to provide a machine guard which will prevent students from contacting with
the machine arm. I think this control measure will prevent an accident occurring because, the
machine guard will cover the from of the machine arm which will protect the students from
contacting the arm while it’s on.




In the above image, the end of the machine will be exposed. The machine guard will protect the end
of this so when the machine is on, and a student’s accidently trip the machine arm will not cause any
damage as the guard is in place. The guard will be locked in, meaning that it will not come off the
machine.

The second control measure that can prevent accident is emergency stop for machines. This will
prevent the machine from going out of control and seriously injuring or killing the workers.
