Certification shows? - correct answerCertification shows that you met the course requirements.

You will be trained to what depth? - correct answerA maximum of 18 metres/60 feet.

What conditions are you qualified to dive in? - correct answerConditions as good as, or better than,
those in which you trained.

The three parts of the course are? - correct answerKnowledge development, confined water dives and
open water dives.

Knowledge development covers the principles, concepts and terms needed for safety.

Confined water dives allow practise of scuba skills in a pool under direct instructor supervision through
one or more mini dives.

Open water dives allow practise, application and demonstration of what you have learnt.

Completing the course allows you to? - correct answerDive without instructor supervision, obtain air
fills, scuba equipment and other dive services, plan, conduct and log open water dives and continue

Are you under more pressure underwater, and if so, why? - correct answerYou are under more pressure
underwater as water also has weight, which combines with the weight of the atmosphere. Water is
much fender and heavier.

What is the pressure increase for each 10 metres/33 feet you descent? - correct answerThe pressure
increases by one bar/ata. Likewise, it decreases by one bar/ata for every 10 metres/33 feet you ascend.

What does pressure change effect? - correct answerPressure changes effect the volume and density of
air. As you go deeper, the pressure increases and so a gas volume decreases and gas density increases.
This effects all air spaces in direct contact with your body.

How do air volume and density change with pressure? - correct answerAir volume and density change
proportionately with pressure. As you go from the surface to 10 metres/33 feet, the pressure doubles to
2 bar/ata. The air density is x2. From 10 metres/33 feet to 20 metres/66 feet, the pressure is 3 bar/ata
(1 air plus 2 water). The air density is x3.
