Topic:
Climate change is supposed to be a natural thing however, has been sped up due to the habits of
mankind. Human nature could be the end of mankind itself, as there are many effects of climate change
that are gradually becoming more and more noticeable. Including, rise in temperatures, more severe
storms, increased droughts, ocean rising due to ice melting, health risks, loss of species, etc. This topic is
important to me because this is our future, as I've learned more throughout the years about the harmful
effect mankind has on our earth. Our home is slowly deteriorating.
There is a dispute between groups of scientists whether or not human activity is primarily
responsible for climate change and this portrays a man vs nature conflict. The issues are discussed
throughout my paper. On one side scientists such as NASA researchers, geologist James Powell,
government agencies such as US Environmental Protection Agency and United Nations Environment
Programme mainly find human activity the primary source of climate change Also finding, the rising
level of human produced gasses create greenhouse effect and that traps heat, causing global warming.
Whereas on the other side, many other experts such as Linda Stalker and her Journal of the
American Meteorological Society and other experts also look back at data from the past 1000 years, and
disagree that human activity is the cause of climate change. Many experts agree, earth’s climate has
always warmed and cooled, and the 20th century rise in global temperature is within the bounds of natural
temperature fluctuation. Lastly, some believe that the CO2 emissions created by humans do not
necessarily cause global warming.
