Topic 3 DQ 1
How can families have an impact on the socialization of children? What can families do to help children
develop positive peer relationships?
Families can have an impact on the socialization of children by the way that they communicate
with one another. Communication is key in any relationship, whether it is with parent to parent
or parent to child or even child to child. Families can help their child develop communication
skills depending on they communicate with one another. Parents are a lead of examples by
demonstrating healthy peer relationships and good communication skills (Berk, 2018). These
kids are always looking at their parents or older adults to set an example of good communication
skills with different types of relationships. It is important to be open and allow your child to
learn from good examples on how to communicate with one another. It is important to interact
with one another and socialize with others so that the child can develop good relationships in the
future. These families can help the children develop positive peer relationship by watching their
parents and/or adults interact with one another to pick up on these skills when they need it in the
real world one day.
