Wireworm - ANSWERYellowish or Reddish Brown. Hard Shelled, and wire-like. Attack Seed or drill into base of stem below ground. Kills meristematic tissue. Seedcorn Maggots - ANSWERProblem in high organic content fields. Likely with Manure. White legless maggot tapered toward head. White Grubs - ANSWERC shaped, white, brown head. One inch long. Chew on roots and root hairs. Southern Corn Rootworm - ANSWERConsidered minor pest in the midwest. Corn Leaf Aphid - ANSWERSmall, blue green, soft bodied insects. Infestations originate from winged aphids carried in in June. European Corn Borer - ANSWERCream to Flesh colored with small raised dark spots and a dark brown head. 3/4 to 1 inch long. Former major pest. Stalk Borer - ANSWERYellowish Brown head and longitudinal white and purplish brown stripes. Has a dark "Saddle" in the middle of the body that fades with age. Western Bean Cutworm - ANSWERAs larva, color changes from dark brown to light tan, with brown hatch markings on the back that develop with age. Major US corn pest. Bean Leaf Beetle - ANSWER1/4 inch long. Background color may be yellow, green, tan, or red. most wing covers have four black spots and stripes along the edges. Always a black triangle at base of wing covers. G
