Part 1: Introduction of your chosen area
In the first component of this assignment, you will introduce the area
you are choosing to use for your GGH2606 activities to the lecturer. The
chosen area must be either a city, town, region or district with a variety
of both man-made and natural resources for tourism. You cannot work
with just one attraction such as a national park, monument, museum or
zoo. The introduction of the area needs to be made according to the
following five themes:
1. The location of the area (both absolute and relative location)
2. The environment of the area (natural and/or human-made/altered)
3. Tourist attractions found here and/or potential attractions
4. What type of tourists would be interested in this area (according to the
UNWTO main purpose of tourism trips classification - Spotlight 1.1)?
5. The possible impacts of tourism in the area This must be done by
writing a short report focusing on each of the themes individually. You
may use graphical aids to strengthen your discussion of the chosen area,
but it is not compulsory. The entire introduction of the chosen area
should not exceed 1000 words. This part of Assignment 01 counts 40
marks (8 marks per theme discussed).
