• The IIC offers two designation programs: the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) and
Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP)

The IIC was formed in 1952 by the existing provincial institutes in British Columbia, Manitoba,
Ontario, and Quebec. It is responsible for the following:

• They assist members in gaining access to the national programs and examinations either by

classroom or virtual classroom course offerings (where registration numbers permit) or steering

• They supplement the formal programs with whatever educational services are deemed
appropriate by the
members, including seminars, workshops, webinars, luncheons, or other special events.
• In addition to these functions, institutes at all levels maintain an industry-wide careers
information service
and encourage the maintenance of insurance libraries, development of public speaking
expertise, and
research projects to further efficiency and progress in the P & C or general insurance industry.
