, The Role of Non-Sanctioned Multimedia
Platforms in Enhancing Student Learning in
Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL)
In Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) institutions,
student engagement and access to learning resources
are critical factors that determine academic success.
Traditional Learning Management Systems (LMS)
such as Moodle and Blackboard have long been the
primary platforms used for content delivery in
ODeL. However, non-sanctioned multimedia
platforms such as podcasts, vodcasts, and messaging
applications like WhatsApp and Telegram have
become increasingly popular as supplementary tools
for enhancing student learning experiences. These
platforms provide students with alternative means
of accessing information, engaging with peers and
instructors, and developing their academic skills
beyond institutional boundaries.
I strongly agree that non-sanctioned multimedia
platforms enhance student learning experiences and
engagement within ODeL contexts. This assertion is
based on three key reasons: flexibility and
accessibility, enhanced peer interaction and
collaboration, and exposure to diverse learning
