3 Components of Tears - ANS-Lipid layer: top, oily layer of tears prevent the water-based layer
from drying out
Aqueous (water) layer: is the middle layer. Is mostly water with a small amount of salt
Mucus: Mucosal layer of tears is the bottom layer, closest to the cornea and conjunctiva, mucus
is mostly protein
must be in balance to prevent dry-eye syndrome
\3 length technique - ANS-uses 3 length of extensions and corresponds to the 3 phases of
natural lashes:
Growth (Anagens) to short extensions
Rest (Catagens) to medium extensions
Shedding (Telogen) to long extensions
\3 steps - ANS-1. Cleaning
2. Disinfect (no bacterial spores)
3. Sterilization (bacterial spores)
\30 days - ANS-to tell TDLR if there's any changes to address or name
\4 rounds - ANS-the number of times you should comb through the lashes to check for
separation of the lashes and stickies
\according to tdrl prior to serving a client what should be used to clean ones own hands -
ANS-All licensees shall clean their hands with soap and water or use a hand sanitizer prior to
performing any services
\advanced adhesives - ANS-high amount of cyanooacrylate, faster drying, more fumy, excellent
retention
\aftercare - ANS-instructions the client should follow to protect, cleanse, moisturize, and prevent
tangling of eyelash extensions. Taking proper care of lash extensions is important for both
hygienic reasons as well as aesthetic reasons
\all clean and disinfected implements and materials when not in use shall be stored in a -
ANS-clean, dry, debris-free environment including but not limited to drawers, cases, tool belts,
rolling trays, or hung from hooks.
\Almond-shaped eyes - ANS-Use longer eyelash extensions at the center of the eye to create a
larger, rounder eyes
\Alum powder, Styptic powder, or a cyanoacrylate - ANS-should be used to stop the bleeding of
a minor cut bleeding, and should be applied to the open area with a disposable cotton-tipped
\Anagen - ANS-the active growth phase of hair within a follicle
\Autoclave - ANS-a device used to sterilize equipment and supplies by exposing them to
high-pressure saturated steam for a specific length of time
\bleach - ANS-can cause damage to plastics & some metals when used incorrectly
\blepharitis - ANS-inflammation of the eyelids characterized by redness and swelling and dried
crusts. Causes can be by allergens, infections, or over-infestation of demodex mites
\Blood and body fluid cleanup and disinfection (5,000 ppm) - ANS-add 1 and 3/4 cups
household (5.25%) bleach to one gallon water. Also referred to as a 10% bleach solution

service whether that be the clients or your own
\blurred vision - ANS-symptom of eyelash mites
\bulbar conjunctiva - ANS-is large, white area of the eye
\Caring for your adhesive - ANS-keep nozzle clean store in cool dark place dispense properly
replace every 4 weeks
\Catagen - ANS-A short transition stage that occurs after the anagen phase. It signals the end of
the active growth of hair
\client consultation - ANS--healthy eyes

\Close-set eyes - ANS-add thick and long lashes to the outer corner
\Conjunctiva - ANS-A thin, clear, moist membrane that coats the inner surfaces of the eyelids
and the outer surface of the eye.
\conjunctivitis - ANS-an inflammation of the conjunctiva that is usually caused by an infection or
allergy; also known as pinkeye.
\consent form - ANS-a written agreement between the client and technician for applying a
particular treatment
\Cornea - ANS-The transparent covering over the iris and the pupil. It regenerates quickly after
injury. Its purpose is to protect the lens, the anterior chamber, the iris, and other structures. It
refracts light and assists in focusing. The cornea also filters ultraviolet radiation
\Corneal Abrasion - ANS-such as a scratch or irritation to the outer layers of the cornea,
happens when the tape is too high
\Corneal ulcer - ANS-Lesion on the cornea left after an infection of or injury to the corneal
epithelium
\correction - ANS-adding and removing or adjusting lashes to clients need lasts 15-20 minutes
\Curved Tweezers - ANS-used to isolate the lash that you will then be placing on eyelash
extensions on
\Cyanoacrylate - ANS-The chemical name for a certain family of fast-acting adhesives that
solidify into an inert (non-reactive) polymer. This type of strong, quick-drying adhesive is used in
many industries, from "liquid stitches" which close skin wounds without sewing, to industrial
uses such as automotive manufacturing. There are many types of cyanoacrylate polymers and
monomers. Only use medical-grade, biocompatible cyanoacrylate adhesive for eyelash
extensions because it is the only type designed for use on the human body.
\demodex mites - ANS-can cause blepharitis which can lead to madarosis (hair loss)
\dermatits - ANS-inflammation of the skin due to irritation, allergic reaction, or infection
\dry eye syndrome - ANS-decreased production of tears production or composition of the three
basic layers of the eye (oil, water, mucus)
\Each salon must be inspected - ANS-every 2 years
\ectropion - ANS-outward turning of the rim of the eyelid
\Eligibility for an operator license - ANS-be at least 17 years of age
\entropion - ANS-causes the eyelid to fold inward and the entire line of lashes touch the cornea
