\Black Carpet Beetle - ANS-This fabric pest is shiny black and most widespread and most
destructive carpet beetle. Adults fly and are attracted to light. Found outside in the sunlight
feeding on flowers. Larvae feed on dead animal materials, hair, fur, hides and horns. Also, feed
on wooden products, cereals, stored grains and nuts, may be found in birds nests.
, \Black Widow Spiders - ANS-This spider is jet-black with a red hourglass on its underside. Eggs
are smooth sacs and are white and contain 30-400 eggs.
\Booklice - ANS-Almost colorless to gray or light brown. Very small and has no metamorphosis,
young look like adults. They prefer damp, warm, undisturbed situations. Cause no damage or
destruction - only a pest because of their presence. Feed on microscopic molds, starchy paste
and glue in book binding and wall paper, cereal and sugar.

\Brown Branded Cockroach - ANS-Smaller roach light brown in color with two light bands

feeding on starchy materials but can be found feeding on mostly anything.
\Brown Recluse Spiders - ANS-This spider is yellow to dark brown with distinctive darker brown
violin shaped mark on top of the cephalothorax. Not found in California. Bits can be very painful
and dangerous and deadly.
\Brown Widow Spiders - ANS-This spider is mottling of tan and brown with black accents and
has an orange hourglass on its underside. Egg sacs are yellowish and round with spikey furs all
around it.
\Bulb Duster - ANS-Balloon shaped and usually all made of rubber, squeeze to use.
\Bumble Bees - ANS-These bees are social insects. They have a complete life cycle; egg,
larvae, pupa and adult. Generally nest underground. They do not make holes in tunnels in
wood. May be found nesting in a abandoned rodent burrows, under piles of grass clippings,
under stones, logs, etc. Some are more likely to sting then others. Controlled by locating and
treating nests with aerosols, dusts, or liquids.
\Carpenter Ant - ANS-These ants are large and black. (Do not eat wood!) Prefer sweets but will
also feed on other insects as well as people food. Nest in tree stumps, firewood, fence posts,
hollow doors or window frames. Leave frass that looks like pencil shavings (Hence the name
insects name)
\Carpenter Bees - ANS-These bees have a complete life cycle. Females are large, black with no
yellow on abdomen and sting. Males are yellow-brown and do not sting. Females burrow 1/2
inch holes into wood to build their nests. This causes structural damage, but rarely attack
painted wood or that's varnished; they prefer bare, exposed wood. Control these pests by using
dusts and plugging there holes. May need to apply a repellent insecticide over the remaining
areas to discourage further attacks.
\Casemaking Clothes Moth - ANS-This fabric pest is light-brown slightly darker than webbing
clothes moth and has 3 dark spots on the wings. Not as common to find as the webbing clothes
