“How Black Lives Matter is Changing Black History Month” by Oliva B. Waxman
In this article, the author is taking readers back to 2015 to when a student in an honors
history class was the only student of color in the class. Now looking back at that time, the student
now has started a movement that started spreading around to other school districts. In the end,
the student had started something that then caught attention to a movement that was known as
the Black Lives Matter Movement.

This article meets the currency criteria as at was published by the author recently this
year. It was published in February 2020.
Relevant
This article is relevant to my topic based on the Black Lives matter movement. I will also
compare the disability movement in the essay.
Authority
The author, Waxman is a staff writer for Time Magazine and is an honor graduate from
Columbia Journalism School, she also grew up in New York City.
