Psychological perspectives assignment 1
Part 2
P3: Explain how different factors influence human development and specific behaviours
Physical
Circadian rhythms, which generate behavioural variations, can seriously affect a person's
function and potentially put them at risk, especially for specific shift workers like healthcare
staff who work shifts. Our immune system, cognitive functions, and parts of the sleep-wake
cycle are all impacted by circadian rhythms. When a person's genetic makeup contains an
abnormal gene, a genetic disease develops. Huntington's disease is one example where this
may not always be inherited from one or both parents. Due to illnesses or hospitalisation,
children with genetic disorders may miss school, which will impair their intellectual
development. The social and emotional growth of a person may be impacted by missed
opportunities for friendship. Where digestive issues are brought on by genetic disorders,
physical development may also be impacted. The way people who have sensory impairments
develop and grow may have an impact on them as well. The composition and operation of the
brain are additional physical factors that affect growth and behaviour. The brain is responsible
for performing specific, specialised tasks like memory, concentration, hearing, sight, and
judgement. People who have suffered a catastrophic brain injury and have had their frontal
lobes injured may behave in ways that are utterly out of character for them. For those who
have dementia, drastic behavioural changes may occur.

Social
The development of loving connections is crucial for a person’s emotional health. Supportive
relationships can help people feel less stressed and have better overall health and wellbeing. An
individual is more likely to have a supportive relationship with more people in their life. It's
comforting to know that they can rely on those close to them during tough times, as when
parents are supportive of their children during difficult times like unemployment. They assist by
motivating the person to look for work and may offer cash assistance. People who are socially
isolated are more susceptible to bullying and abuse since no one is there to defend them.
Relationships may become disrupted as a result of a person struggling to maintain them, and
others become put off by their behaviour and stop wanting to be around them.

Cultural
From the moment of our birth, culture has an impact on how we develop and has an ongoing
effect. For instance, culture can influence how kids develop their language, belief systems,
values, and perceptions of who they are as people and as members of society. Through multiple

, pathways, including their parents, their surroundings, and the media, children can be exposed
to these cultural influences. A child's growth can be influenced by society's tolerance of
different cultures in various ways, including how self-assured or socially competent they grow
up to be.

Emotional
Some people may have been raised to openly communicate their emotions and worries,
including grief, rage, and jealousy. It might deter others from doing this action. Emotions can
affect a person's sense of self-worth, capacity for empathy, and capacity for forming deep
connections. Children who comprehend and express their emotions naturally have higher social
and compassionate skills, which will enhance their ability to form connections and perform well
in school. A person's body and mind can experience additional stress as a result of negative
emotions. If the stress becomes unbearable and unmanageable, it might result in health
problems in addition to being uncomfortable. Anxiety can inspire people to make decisions that
increase their chances of success and help them stay safe.

Economic
Our behaviours and health will be impacted by how much money we spend to meeting our
necessities. Because they cannot buy fruit and vegetables, a person may have a poor diet.
People who lack the time or money to travel to appointments may also have trouble getting
access to services such as dentists and opticians. Patients may have difficulty receiving a
diagnosis because medical facilities may be strapped for cash and unable to purchase quality
equipment. While those with greater incomes can afford healthier lifestyles, those with lower
incomes are more likely to embrace unhealthy habits like drinking and smoking, which may
raise their risk of developing heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.

Physical environment
Our development and behaviour will be impacted by the many surroundings we live in. A
person with children who lives in an urban environment without access to a large outdoor
space will probably experience greater stress than a person who does. Overcrowding and wet
homes also increase stress and a number of physical health issues. Negative circumstances can
worsen mental diseases that already exist or can lead to the development of others, including
depression and anxiety. A child's physical development can be impacted by physical
environment elements such exposure to poisons or substances before or after birth. Low birth
weight, early birth, and serious long-term medical issues are all examples of challenges. The
environment has minimal influence over the genes, proteins, and time that determine brain
development, but it does affect how children use their newly acquired cognitive skills.
