ysJamessWattsins1776.sWhenshesstartedsdesigningsthessteamsenginesins1763,shissprim
aryschallengeswasstosmakesthesboresofsthescylinderssufficientlysaccuratestospreventsth
essteamsfromsescapingsaroundsthespiston.sThesinitialscylinderswassmanufacturedsfro
mssheetsmetal,swhichscertainlysdidsnotsworksproperly.sThesprob-
slems wasseventuallyssolvedsbysJohnsWilkinsonswhenshesinventedsaswaterwheel-
