Cogntive Appraisal and Emotional Appraisal - Answers In regards to capgras syndrome, cognitive appraisal is the ability to recognize the physical charastherisctics of a person, however, the emotional appraisal is not identified that is why a patient with this condition might state that the person look familiar, but they do not know who they are. Neuroimaging Techniques - Answers The neuroimaging techniques are the one who allow researchers to find a connection among emotional appraisal and capgras syndrome. CTs, PET scans, MRI, fMRI, and EEG are the most famous neuroimaging techniques. CTs are x-rays, and MRI use magnetism. These techniques purpose is to indetify the structural of the brain. Meanwhile, the PET (glucose is followed to see which areas of the brain are utilize more), fMRI (oxygen is tracked to indetify brain activity), EGG (electrical charges or neurotransmitters are monitored) have the same purpose to identify the area that is being stimulated or not. Brain - Answers The brain has 3 trillion of neurons. There are roughly 10 times more glial cells than neurons. Glial surround the neurons as an insolation material. They are the most common cells in the central nerve system. In 1861, Paul Broca was the first research that noticed the important damage one area of the brain could do to another one, or in another words each area has a specify function. Phineas Gage, for instance, was reported by Paul Broca as having diffilcuty to talk after a metal bar perforated into his head. Frontal Lobe - Answers Focus on the personality and emotional Left lobe - Answers Focus on ability to speak Hindman - Answers The hindman is the first area of the brain that starts where the spinal cord ends. The hindman function involves heart beat, breathing and posture. The biggest area of the hindman is the cerebelum which main funciton is to rely sensory information and interpretation sounds and condinate movements. Midman - Answers Its main function is movement, including eyes. The midman also transported information from the ears to the forebrain. Forebrain - Answers Forebrain is the largest area of the human body. It contains the cerabral cortex. Longitudinal fissure - Answers It is the largest groove of the brain that goes from the front of the brain to the back. Fissures and brain - Answers Others fissures divide the brain in two, and the areas divided are called after the bone that cover them. Subcordial - Answers The subcordial are part of the brain that are underneath the cortex. Thalamus, Hyppocampus, and Hypothalamus - Answers Thalamus relys information from almost all of the senories. The hyppocampus and amygdala focus on the memory creation and learning while the hypothalamus involves eating, sexual and drinking desire. Lateralization - Answers It is the concept that functions on the brain are tended to be focused on one side of the brain Neuropsychology - Answers The best way to identify neurology damage is by gathering information from patients that already suffered from some lose of cognitive skills. Transcranial magnetic stimulation reduces the activity of some areas of the brain to identify what are they functions.
