Iot the internet of things is a vast growing network where we have
everyday things being embedded with software and sensors which these
can transfer data between them. IoT is usful within many sectors such as
domestic and healthcare providing efficiency and boosting productivity. In
this report I will cover the use of IoT within two sectors comparing the
devices, their purpose and risk.
How do we use IoT in the 4 sectors
Domestic
In the domestic sector ioT is used within smart home devices that help
boost security and convenience. Some devices that use Iot in the
domestic sector are washing machines and coffee machines they can both
be accessed remotely and monitored. Having lights that can be controlled
remotely by changing the colours or when they turn on. Furthermore, you
have surveillance camera and doorbell cameras that you can see and look
at through your phones are all ways iot can be used.
Healthcare
IoT helps in the healthcare sector to better patient care as they can wear
smart watches these can help monitor your heart rate, get full insights on
your sleep and help monitor your health in the long run which is beneficial
to those who have sever medical conditions. IoT is also used within the
healthcare sector to help women track their period, predict when their
next period will come and to check for symptoms to see that if they
currently have started their period without them knowing.
Industrial
IoT in the industrial sector help boost productivity, safety and efficiency
this can be done by many ways such as having machines with sensors
detect problems before it breaks down reducing human error and
downtime needed to fix these things. Another way IoT is used is through
robotics they help with boosting manufacturing processes.
Environmental
In the environment sector ioT helps with conserving and monitoring
natural resources. A way this is done is weather monitoring through the
use ioT devices data is collected and used to predict weather patterns
throughout the day and week. Another way IoT is used in the
environmental sector is pollution control smart sensor monitor the air and
water quality and flags if the pollution level or the quality becomes bad.
