Radiologic Physics RADT 100 Anatomy of the Mediastinum and Body Quadrants [Solved]
Radiologic Physics RADT 100 Anatomy of the Mediastinum and Body Quadrants [Solved] Mediastinum - ANS: Space between the lungs holding organs such as the thymus gland, heart, great vessels, trachea, and esophagus. Quadrants of the body - ANS: Four divisions: RUQ (right upper quadrant), LUQ (left upper quadrant), RLQ (right lower quadrant), LLQ (left lower quadrant), each housing specific organs like the gallbladder, stomach, spleen, and appendix. Lung lobes - ANS: Right lung has three lobes (superior, middle, inferior), left lung has two lobes (superior, inferior). Lung fissures - ANS: Right lung has two deep fissures, left lung has one deep, oblique fissure. Body habitus types - ANS: Sthenic, hypersthenic, asthenic, and hyposthenic, each with distinct characteristics affecting major organ locations. Pleura - ANS: Serous membrane enveloping each lung, forming a double-walled sac that lines the chest cavity interior to protect and lubricate the lungs. Inspiration - ANS: Process where lung volume increases due to decreased air pressure, involving elevation of ribs by external intercostal muscles and diaphragm contraction. Expiration - ANS: Passive process where ribs fall, diaphragm rises, and abdominal muscles push contents up, aided by internal intercostal muscle action. Small intestine sections - ANS: Duodenum (most proximal for digestion), Jejunum (absorption), Ileum (most distal for nutrient absorption). Large intestine sections - ANS: Cecum, Colon (divided into ascending, transverse, descending, sigmoid), Rectum (final part before defecation), Anal canal. Quadrants of the body - ANS: Four quadrants: RUQ (right upper quadrant), LUQ (left upper quadrant), RLQ (right lower quadrant), LLQ (left lower quadrant) RUQ - ANS: Organ that stores bile (gallbladder), Duodenum, Hepatic flexure
