Barcodes - answer-Machine readable codes affixed to goods. Scanners scan the code and give meaning to the sets of lines. Biometric security - answer-Technology that measures/scans something biologically unique to each person for the purposes of identification. Blu-ray - answer-An optical disc format designed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of high-definition video, as well as storing large amounts of data. CPU - answer-The part of the computer that processes all data and carries out all instructions. Data projector - answer-A device that connects to a computer and projecst what is displayed on the monitor onto a screen or wall. Joystick - answer-An input device which looks like a lever mounted on a base. It can usually move in any direction and is used to control the movement of an object on the screen. Magnetic Ink Character Recognition - answer-A technology that enables a machine to read characters such as bank numbers on a cheque. Motherboard - answer-A large circuit board inside the computer box, containing slots and connections for all the components of a computer. Multi-function printer - answer-An all-in-one device which can print, scan, photocopy and fax. Optical Mark Recognition - answer-The process of capturing marks made by a human being. Pen input - answer-A pressure-sensitive input device used together with a tablet. Pointing stick - answer-An input device which takes the form of a small button between the keys of a laptop keyboard. You movie it in order to move the pointer on the screen, and press it down in order to click. Radio-frequency identification - answer-Uses small radio devices to store and transmit data. RAM - answer-The place where the computer stores running programs and their data. ROM - answer-A special chip on the motherboard that holds the instructions needed to start the computer when you switch it on. Scanners - answer-An input device that scans images into a commputer. Speed Measurement (ghz) - answer-The unit in which the speed of a CPU is measured. A ghz represents 1 billion cycles per second. T
