Module 1-Discussion Thread: Educational Issues
There are various educational topics that are relevant in the educational landscape.
However, the topic that I'm interested in the most is technology integration. The reason why I
find this topic interesting is that, after the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a significant shift
towards utilizing technological resources and digital tools in the classroom, given that this
pandemic highlighted the importance and need for hybrid and blended strategies for learning
(Singh et al., 2021). Concerning this educational topic, the main research aspect that I would
plan on exploring is whether technology integration in the classroom enhances learning
accessibility for students, particularly those with learning disabilities.
Concerning this educational topic, there are distinctive beliefs. The first belief is that
technology integration positively impacts educators and learners. This belief is supported by Li
& Zhao (2019), whose study argues that using technology in the classroom improves student
engagement with learning materials, and this translates into improved and better academic
performances. The second belief is that technology integration improves the learning experiences
of students with learning disabilities. This is because technology integration in the classroom
allows educators to create differentiated lesson plans and learning materials as an approach to
address each learner's unique needs (Moreno-Guerrero et al., 2020). Thirdly, technology
integration provides assistive technologies that play a role in enhancing accessibility to
classroom materials for students who would otherwise be at a disadvantage. In their study,
Shadiev et al. (2014) argue that assistive technologies are a component of technology integration
that provide supportive tools in the classroom that students utilize to fulfill their learning
objectives. Lastly, an important belief of technology integration is that it promotes problem-
based learning by allowing learners to explore different problems while developing solutions.
Study shows that technology integration allows learners to develop better comprehension and
engagement with learning content (Dinc, 2019). As a result, they learn how to solve problems. In
other words, these beliefs reflect the need to research technology integration in the classroom.
Based on these beliefs, the following are the conclusions, assumptions, understandings, and
expectations about this topic.
1. Conclusions: Technology integration in the classroom is necessary, given that it enhances
learning experiences and outcomes from different perspectives.
2. Assumptions: Students who experience learning with technological tools showcase better
and improved outcomes than those who do not experience learning with technology
integration.
3. Understandings: Technology integration in the classroom is designed to provide
educators and students with opportunities for better learning.
4. Expectations: Research will show that technology integration improves equity and
multicultural learning, which enhances student outcomes.
