Contraindications/Precautions
Contradictions in patients with hypersensitivity to
adrenergic amines. Nursing Interventions
Assess lung sounds, pulse, and
BP before administration and
during peak of medication. Note
sputum produced. Observe for
Interactions paradoxical bronchospasm and
Concurrent use with other adrenergic agents will have hold meds and contact PCP if
increased adrenergic side effects condition.
Use with MAOI inhibitors may lead to hypersensitive crisis.
May decrease serum digoxin levels.
Client Education
Instruct patient to take as
directed. Do NOT double dose.
Evaluation of Medication Effectiveness
Instruct patient in proper use of
Prevention or relief of bronchospasm metered dose inhaler or
nebulizer. Advise patient to rinse
mouth with water after dose.
