Bluff: slightly raised line that marks the edge of a flood
plain
Natural levee: low ridges/ mounds formed on the edges of
river bank due deposition of settlements
Flood Plains: an area of nearly flat land bordering a stream
or ever that is naturally subjected to periodic flooding
Levees

banks.
This causes an increase in friction and a decrease in velocity
as the River spreads over the flood plain.
The competence decreases and the material previously held
in suspension is deposited. The heaviest material is deposited
first as the River loses energy, which leads to the formation
of the levees.
