When Alcaraz assesses the effects of temperature on the metabolic stoichiometry of
Arctic zooplankton, the relationship between zooplankton metabolism end temperature with the
use of grid stations to represent a range of the temperature variation during the cruise (Alcaraz et
al. 2013). The main objective was to explore the effects of temperature on the carbon respiratory
loss of zooplankton and to investigate whether these metabolic pathways responded similarly to
temperature, and how temperature could affect the stoichiometry of metabolic products (Alcaraz
et al. 2013).
The results concluded the metabolic rates, marked as a specific unit of the carbon
biomass of the zooplankton, and increased as the temperature had also increased, which
followed the Arrhenius equation (Alcaraz et al. 2013). Another point was that the activation
energy had actually differed for the various different metabolic processes that were considered
to be studied. The metabolic activities/pathways were the least affected by temperature where
respiration, CR, then NE and PE (Alcaraz et al. 2013).
Now to look at the effects of temperature on the stoichiometry, it showed that the
nutrient pool that was available for phytoplankton was also modified. It had shown a qualitative
