a blurring of information and entertainment. When I think of infotainment the talk show that
comes to mind is “The View”. Watching this show you obtain a mixture of facts, opinions, and
entertainment. Our Chamberlain week 2 lesson explains in detail how people have turned to
social networks and entertainment as an outlet for news instead of CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN and
other news stations (2024). Media outlets and audiences become more divided along political
lines when people choose media that confirms only their existing views and persuasions. This is

news media means that the news is driven not by a strong and honest desire to inform citizens,
but instead by money, and the desire to make a profit. This has led to infotainment which in
today’s world people gravitate towards. Kubin provides statistics regarding affective
polarization, that nearly all experiments found that social media can further affectively polarize
people. One study he wrote about was about those who deactivated their Facebook account in the
lead up to the 2018 United States midterm election became less affectively polarized (2021).
Political scientists refer to the process by which individuals acquire these beliefs and attitudes as
political socialization. The instruments by which beliefs and attitudes are conveyed to individuals
in society (such as our families, schools, and so on) are called agents of socialization
(Chamberlain,2024).

interesting statistics based on the question if the media should remain non-biased. The
survey finds that a median of 75% across 38 countries say it is never acceptable for a news
organization to favor one political party over others when reporting the news. Just 20% say this
