- VFR or IFR.. up to but not including 18,000 feet

- 250 kts IAS max. (its ok if the aircraft can fly faster than that, but you are limited to that airspeed)

- not for hire

- not flights outside of the U.S. (unless country you're flying to allows it)

- same limitations as a pilot (pro rate share, search and rescue, etc.)

recall on a car.



PURPOSE & PROCEDURES FOR OBTAINING A SPECIAL FLIGHT PERMIT (PHAK 9-12) A special flight
permit is a special airworthiness certificate allowing operation of an aircraft that is not airworthy but is
still capable of a specific safe flight. To obtain a special flight permit forms many be obtained through
the FSDO (flight standards district office). Must be flown to a station for repairs, or for delivery, or
removing an aircraft out of danger.
