, Description Of The Capital Acquisition
The capital acquisition plan for the step-down unit is to renovate the nurses’ lounge since
the satisfaction and morale of the nurses are low. This investment is based on findings that have
shown that work environment influences staff productivity and job satisfaction in a health
facility (Zhenjing et al., 2022). The unit manager plans to update the lounge to provide a more
comfortable and motivating environment so that the nurses can rest during their breaks and feel
valued as a team. The budget will be used for refurbishment expenses, which includes
construction, interior designs and furniture to enhance staff satisfaction and staff turnover rates.
The plan is predicated on the understanding that enhancement of the nurses’ lounge will
correspond with a rise in the satisfaction and morale of the nurses, resulting in increased
profitability (Thuy et al., 2020). It is also believed that enhancing the work environment will help
to decrease the turnover rates and attract new employees. In conclusion, the unit manager expects
this quality improvement investment to result in high long-term returns in terms of staff turnover,
patient care, and the performance of the unit.
Rationale For The Capital Acquisition
The rationale for the capital acquisition to renovate the nurses’ lounge lies in several
crucial issues affecting the step-down unit. Firstly, there has been high turnover of nursing staff
mainly due to low satisfaction and morale which has been revealed through interviews and
patients’ feedback. It is important to address these problems to maintain a stable work force in
order to continue providing good care. Research indicates that work environment has a causal
relationship with staff satisfaction and staff productivity that can lead to better patient outcomes
(Shaikh, 2023).
