Music is used to reinforce some behaviors and modify others. This approach is structured, not
improvisational, and may include listening to music, dancing, singing, or playing an instrument.
Humanistic Theory of Music Therapy -
, Holistic idea that we are all a mind, body, and spirit. Within this approach is the concept of self,
free will, and unconditional positive regard.
Autogenic Training -
a relaxation technique that involves a sensation of heaviness, warmth, and tingling in the limbs.

Systematic desensitization -
A behavioral technique where the client is exposed progressively to stimuli and taught
relaxation/regulating techniques.

A 5 note "major" scale omitting the 4 and 7. In the key of C, this plays C D E G A. Playing only
black keys is also this.
Aeolian -
the natural minor scale
Dorian -
Plays a flat 3 and flat 7. No accidentals in the key of D
Ionian -
Major scale

the 4 is raised. F scale with a B natural
Dysphagia -
Difficulty swallowing as a symptom of disease
Aphasia -
usually occurs after a stroke or head injury. Affects the ability to speak clearly, understand speech,
trouble writing and remembering words.
Ataxia -
impaired balance or coordination, can be due to damage to brain, nerves, or muscles.
Stakeholdership -
Individuals and organizations that have an interest in or are affected by the MT's evaluation and the
results.
Fading -
(medical) gradual loss of strength
(ABA) decreasing the level of assistance needed to complete a task or activity
