Implementing Change With an Interprofessional Approach The Inevitable Change Change is inevitable within the nursing profession. Companies implement change to better the organization and to enhance patient outcomes. The approach used to implementing change can decipher whether the change will be well received by employees or not. Example of Change An example of a change that was being implemented that was ill received is a company that attempted to alter how they were going to staff referrals. Clinicians were forced to relinquish subsequent visits to licensed practical nurses (LPN) in order to allow the registered nurse (RN) more time to conduct start of care visits and allow the company to accept more home health referrals. The RN’s did not like the thought of being forced to give visits away due to potentially not making as much money. Those Affected Stakeholders affected by the projected change: • RNs • LPNs • Patients • Referral agencies • The home health agency
