Congratulations! I just received the good news on your new job as an
entertainer! I’m so happy and excited for you I’m sure you will love it, I’m
just writing to you to give you a little bit of help advice within this job role
to make sure you do your very best, I wish someone had said these things
to me before I started it would have made everything so much easier!
So first of all, quality of performance, this should be really good and
customers should feel like they are getting good value for money, I
actually went to a musical last week and the quality of performance was
so good that I would happily return, you should also only use the
performance skills you know you have and those should be well
rehearsed, I know you love your dancing and singing so that’s amazing
and something you can definitely keep rehearsing and improving but
don’t try to be a comedian because even I don’t find you funny! The
support staff will hugely impact the delivery of your show so please
ensure that they know what they’re doing as this will make a big
difference, this will include things such as lighting, props, security, food
and drink for example remember the festival we went to in the summer
the lighting was so beautiful and really made the night memorable but the
bar was all the way on the other side on the field which was so annoying
to get to because of the crowd? Yeah well just make sure if people want
food they get it before the show or have a food and drinks stall inside.
Next I’ll talk to you about your budget, this is something that you’ll always
have and something its best not to go over I would suggest you get
creative with your budget and save where you can to get the most out of
your money and a way you could do this is by creating costumes yourself
rather than going out and buying them. Resources are another important
factor and should always he prepared in advance and in good working
order to ensure health and safety for both the entertainers and audience,
my colleague was performing the other day and persuaded a member of
the audience to join in but when she was getting into the stage the steps
broke! Fortunately, she wasn’t badly hurt but she could have been and
this would have caused a huge issue for our company all because we
didn’t check the stairs. We both know what the weather can be like, one
day its good but the next its awful and as an entertainer contingency
plans are a must as it is just so unpredictable, I was carrying out a
treasure hunt for the little ones not long ago and I didn’t think to make
any contingency plans so everyone including myself got soaked and it just
ruined the activity and put everyone in a bad mood which is something we
don’t want, this also relates to the venue you choose as it is important
your venue is suitable for the activity you are doing so ask yourself these
