stereochemistry
of Warfarin
, Why is it
important to study
Warfarin?
§ Warfarin is a vitamin K antagonist; it’s taken to
treat blood clots that could potentially be
dangerous. (Deaton and Nappe, 2023)
§ Warfarin also helps prevent future blood
clots, which will benefit people who have
atrial fibrillation, blood clotting disorders and
people who have replacement or mechanical
heart valves.
§ A common side effect from taking Warfarin is
that patients may bleed more easily than
normal as the blood cannot clot as easily.
