Identify the business aims and how to use social media to meet them.


I am hired by VRRed, a company producing VR games, to help them successfully build an online
presence prior to their first game release on the 1st of June. VRRed currently doesn’t have any online
presence, which in my opinion is a good clean start and would allow me to set a solid starting point
for the marketing campaign. I am asked by VRRed to promote their up-coming release of a game on
the first of June. Their main objective is to boost sales of their new product, I think that in order to
for them to successfully sell their product online, I will need to help to build a brand online. I think to
achieve the best results I will use cross platform marketing, engaging users all over the internet on
some of the most popular social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube).

VRRed are expecting to see quick results (due to the soon release of their product) and I will tailor
the marketing strategy and make it a bit more aggressive and engaging by keeping active and using
call to actions and cross-platform marketing. Further I will focus on mainly engaging the target
audience of young people of age around 12. Since the target audience is quite young rather than
focusing efforts on the quality of the graphics posts I will focus to create something more interesting
to look at and something that would intrigue the target audience. I would also keep in mind that
most likely the target audience will have to ask their parents to buy them the game so I will make
sure that the adverts I design can be relatable by an older audience as well.

Further to successfully meet the client requirement from VRRed I will keep clear communication
with them throughout and make sure that they are informed and have a say about the decisions
during the marketing campaign.

I will create two plans one will be for the social media content and the other for the entirety of the
social media campaign including the various stages of the campaign development.

I think the best features of the social media account I will be using (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube)
would; Facebook: posting updates with pictures, videos and the ability to use hashtags to make the
post easier to find for your target audience; YouTube: the ability to use key words to optimise the
video to shop in relevant searches, the ability to have people subscribed to the posting channel to
sustain and grow a community, people can leave comments as well as like and dislike the content;
Titter: one of the best features is that because all the messages on twitter are short people have
more time to see more of them and usually the traffic is quite heavy it would make an ideal platform
for growing a follower base. Because of that I think twitter would be ideal for cross platform use as I
will redirect my followers from twitter to YouTube and Facebook to watch the trailers and take part
in the Facebook page. Twitter’s unique feature to categorise everything with hashtags will be very
helpful reaching my target audience. I think all these features make these social media platforms
ideal to fulfil my clients’ business requirements.

These social media platforms allow users to share content with others which is great as it will allow
the VRRed online community to grow by itself. There is also the option to use paid advertisements in
which I can choose exactly who the adverts will be shown to and I got to specify the age group and
the interest they should have, if I am using paid advertisement this would be great for optimising the
ROI (return of investment) ratio as I can only show my advert to my ideal target audience.
