Standard Bank of South Africa Ltd v Echo Petroleum 2012 (5) SA 283 (SCA):
Facts of the case: Standard Bank provided a loan facility to Echo Petroleum. Echo
received funds from a third party, which were intended for purchasing goods. However,
unbeknownst to the third party, Echo was heavily indebted to Standard Bank, which set
off the credit against Echo’s debt.
