 He tells Duncan that the Scottish generals Macbeth and Banquo were brave in battle
 Macbeth saved Malcolm, kings son
 Traitorous Thane of Cawdor killed by Macbeth
 Duncan announces Macbeth will be Thane of Cawdor

Scene: Act 1 Scene 3
Summary:
 Returning from battle, Macbeth and Banquo meet the 3 witches
 They foreshadow that Macbeth will be Thane of Cawdor and King and Banquo he
will be father to a line of kings
 Ross and Angus arrive to tell Macbeth he is the Thane of Cawdor
 Banquo warns Macbeth that the Witches lure people to evil, but Macbeth is excited

Scene: Act 1 Scene 4
Summary
Duncan thanks Macbeth and Banquo for their part in the war
Macbeth’s secret hope to be King setback Malcom announced to be heir to throne
Aside: Macbeth realises his ambiton to be King

Summary:
 Lady Macbeth receives letter from Macbeth about witches, she fears he’s too good
to kill Duncan and uses all her power to persuade him
 Lady calls evil spirits after hearing Duncan is staying in the castle
 Lady Macbeth tells Duncan to look innocent and leave everything to her

 Duncan arrives at Macbeth’s castle with sons, Banquo + attendant thanes
