about the event.



Task 1

 Talking about projects, programmes, and portfolios, how they allow for improvement and
growth and enhance performance. Organisational change and how it links to the delivery of
strategy
 Strategic alignment, how it helps an organisation using a work breakdown structure, links
into ‘the How’ part of the breakdown structure
 How a business needs to implement the strategic vision and linking projects, outcomes and
benefits to make the overall organisational strategy.
 Reference saying that adopting a project and programme-oriented approach will increase
success, the more strategies a business has the more successful they will be.
 Steps for starting a project, having a vision, making sure the visions set a feasible for the
business, once it is feasible a business case should then be written to show expected costs.
 Make sure the interest is there in pursuing the project and get it approved by the project
sponsor/s
 Getting the project manager involved in writing the PMP, then get to the initiation of the
project.
 Project manager is key – make sure the project is running smoothly and they are going to
achieve their aims and objectives.
 Five major processes in managing a project, initiating, planning, executing, controlling and
closing (process is required for the project manager)
 Final step is completion, goals need to be looked back on to make sure everything is
achieved
 Project documentation needs to be handed over to the business, ensure they are happy with
the outcome.
 Communication with stakeholders

 What it is
 How it is important within a business
 What to do once the stakeholders are chosen
 Referenced APM with stakeholder engagement and management and how they are
the most important things when it comes to running a project.
 Mendelow Matrix – what it is and an example of one for the Olympic case study.
 How the Olympic infrastructure had lots of stakeholders.
 In 2005 the sponsor plan was written up, included all the stakeholders and their
involvement (included in appendices)
