Bayazid’s devotion to his mother
When Bayazid was a small boy, one day, he was studying by the side of the bed of his sick
mother. Suddenly, she woke up and wanted a glass of water. Bayazid found no water in
the jar and so he went out to fetch water from a fountain.
The fountain was quite far from his home. Bayzid returned home with water late. He took
a glass of water and went to his mother but then she was sleeping. Bayazid did not disturb
his mother and stood beside her bed the whole night with the glass of water. His mother
got up from sleep in the morning. At first she could not understand anything. Later she
remembered everything that had happened at night. She was astonished to see her son’s
devotion for her. She embraced her son with deep love and prayed to Allah for him.
A Cunning Fox/A fox without a tail
Once there lived a clever fox in a jungle. One day he fell in to a trap and lost his tail. Without the
tail the fox looked strange and foolish. He felt very sad and ashamed. One day the fox invited all
the foxes to a meeting. When the foxes attended the meeting, Mr. Fox said, “I have invited you to
tell a very important thing.” “What is that?” asked the foxes. Mr. Fox said, “I have thought about
our tails. I have discovered that they are useless. They always remain dirty. For our tails we look
dirty and strange. So I have cut off my tail. Look at me. I can move freely now. I can also play
easily and run smoothly. So friends, let us cut it off.” Hearing this, many of the foxes
appreciated the proposal and were ready to cut their tail off.
But a wise fox could understand the trick of the fox. He stood up and said, “The fox is clever.
He himself lost his tail and so, he wants us to be like him. Don’t listen to him.” Hearing this,
everybody understood their mistake. They all stood up and left the place angrily. The clever
fox kept himself sitting alone helplessly.
A Liar Shepherd
There was a shepherd boy. He used to graze a flock of sheep near a forest. He wanted to
make fun with the villagers.
One day, the shepherd boy began to shout, “Wolf! wolf! help! help!” The villagers heard
his cry and rushed to help him. But when they came near him, they found no wolf there
and the boy laughed at them. The villagers became very angry for this.
A few days later, the shepherd boy again made the same fun. Hearing his cry the villagers
thought that this time the tiger had really come. So they rushed to him but found no wolf
there. The boy was laughing loudly.
One day a wolf really came and attacked his sheep. The boy became very afraid and
shouted, “Wolf! wolf! Please, come and help me.” The villagers heard him but they thought
that the boy was again playing his trick to have a joke with them. So nobody went to help
him. The shepherd boy became helpless. The wolf killed all the sheep and also the
shepherd.
