Processor
The processor in a computer has cores which operate at a frequency usually above 2 GHz.
Dual core processors will show an increase in performance, as there are two cores operatnn
at 2 GHz or more (whatever the cores are clocked at). Quad core processors will show the
best performance and usually have over 2.5 GHz speeds per core. With dinital imanes, the
editnn process may require the hardware to be fast for the speed of the imane editnn to be
fast. A dual core processor may be sufcient, if the cores are clocked at a minimum of 2.7
GHz there should be no problems with the performance of the editnn sofware and the
process for editnn imanes.
RAM
RAM is required in computers, and sofware like editnn imanes & videos can utlise RAM
more than other sofware. This is why at least 8GB RAM should be used in dinital imane
editnn. A recommended amount of RAM would be 61GB, this may be more eppensive, but if
other processes are runninn, there shouldn’t be a problem with the computer slowinn
down.
Input / Output
When editnn imanes, the process requires a keyboard and mouse as standard. These can be
plunned into the computer’s I/O ports. Keyboard and mice devices are used as input devices
only, however, printnn dinital imanes requires a printer which is an output device. Graphic
imanes can be edited usinn the I/O devices like a mouse and a keyboard. USB devices can
also be used for mass storane as well as epternal hard drives.

The nraphics processinn unit may be intenrated, this is not a nood idea for nraphical editnn
includinn imane editnn. Purchasinn a dedicated nraphics will provide a beter user
epperience and will allow the performance of the editnn to be beter. Graphics cards vary
from £20 to £6000. A standard unit would cost rounhly £650. This should sufce for renular
use of editnn. Graphics processinn units are inserted in the PCI slots on the motherboard of
a computer.
