Unit 4
Describe physical, intellectual, emotional and social development for
each of the life stages of an individual (P1)
In this section I am going to describe the physical, intellectual, emotional and
social development through the life stages of the beautiful Aaliyah. There are
diferent types of life stages, these include: conception, pregnancy, infancy,
childhood, adolescence, adulthood and older stages of life.
Conception:
This is where human life “begins” it is the fusing of two gametes to create an
embryo that soon develops into a baby. A single egg is realised into the
fallopian tubes (ovulation) and when the sperm cell bonds with the egg it
initiates into a new cell/embryo. This was the beginning of the life for
Aaliyah. This is the Early stages of life alongside pregnancy.
Pregnancy:
The 9 month process, in which an embryo grows and transforms into a baby.
This is known to occur usually 40 weeks after conception.
During the first montt罂 of pregnancy the embryo is made of two layers in
which all organs and body parts develop. In the secntd montt罂 the embryo is
able to move around a lot and the fngers develop but are webbed. By 4 m
ontt罂s the embryo is roughly 5.5 inches in size and bones begin to form a
skeleton. Consequently by 6 montt罂s there is signifcant weight gain, the skin
has become less wrinkled –smoother and at 7 montt罂s the baby can open and
close its eyes. By 8 montt罂s there is sufcient weight gain and the lungs are
fully developed. Finally at 9 montt罂s the baby is fully developed and ready for
life outside the womb. This process would have been stressful and painful for
Diane Haughton (Aaliyah’s mother) but was all worth it in the end as nothing
can break the bonding and attachment between a baby and its mother.
(2)Aaliyah Dana Haughton was birthed on January 16, 1979, in Brooklyn, New
York and raised in Detroit, Michigan.
Infancy: this is usually between the ages of 0 to 3 years.

of how the child will grow physically. The process starts at human infancy. At
this tender age Aaliyah typically would have been able to begin crawling,
chewing food, walk on the dependence of an object, learn more about her
senses, become stronger, develop better head control, reach for things but
unfortunately teething begins which is a painful process for children.
Ittellectual mdevelnpoett m– mIntelligent as she was, she should now have the
capability to name objects, speak short sentences, ask questions, understand
others, follow commands, count, recognise colour and simple shapes.
