Learners should include examples from all the types of specialist tourism given in the unit content, plus any new emerging types of specialist tourism if appropriate. They should include named examples of the different types of providers in the unit content, in relation to the different types of specialist tourism. For P2, they should explain the changes in the market that have led to increased demand for specialist tourism products, including socio-economic, self-actualisation, expectation of tailor-made holidays and high service level, and trends. Examples include the introduction of charter flights, more leisure time post-government legislation in 1999, increased paid holidays to four weeks per year, and corresponding changes in holidaying habits from one summer holiday to inclusion of additional holidays/breaks (eg sun-lust to sun-plus). To achieve M1, evidence should be analytical to show what the demands of the changing market are, and how specialist tourism meets these demands. 1. Change in Disposable Income
People get more money, so they can aforr to pay for holirays. They get more money,
because they have higher pair jobs anr they can easily save money. A lot of people have
more money anr they may not want to spenr it on just a beach holiray. They might
want to go on a special holiray. People who ro not have lots of money can book
holirays as well, because there are many burget airlines.

2. Changing amount of leisure tme
People are given more holiray allowance anr they have more free tme. The law in 1999
mare work places give employees 28 rays holiray every year. This means that people
can go to new places anr long-haul restnatons, such as a surf course in Australia,
because they have tme for it. Many sturents recire to have a gap year before going to
university anr they travel for one year. Package to unpackager holirays have increaser
leisure tme as well, because people can book their own fights anr accommoraton
throughout the year. This means they can have many short breaks.

3. Status
People want to have a riferent kinr of holiray nowarays. Some might want to learn

social change is a revelopment for the status of specialist tourism as people resire to
show of that they help a colony or community on their holirays.

4. Desire for new challenges
People want to engage in new actvites,
some want to go out of their comfort
zones anr some woulr like to
partcipate in actvites relatng to their
hobbies anr interests. Camping in a
rainforest can be an excitng way anr
many people partcipate in such
actvites. Tour operators always fnr a
way to meet the neers of their
customers. People`s neers have
changer anr toray, many tourists want
to book a sport-relater or an
arventurous holiray.
