Comparing diets of two individuals
Megan’s diet consists of no meat as she is a vegetarian and lots of carbohydrates as she needs them
due to all the exercise she does. She is also at the age where she needs the right food in order to
grow. The problems that may arise with the food she eats includes the price as fresh fruit and veg is
expensive. Another problem may be that her family may not be willing to change to vegetarian
foods. She is also suffering from peer pressure and is conscious about her weight which may have
influenced her determination as to becoming a vegetarian. Her diet will make her feel more full and
she will have more energy as the food she eats has more fibre in. She however does have a good
body weight but feels pressured to be skinner due to photos of celebrities in the media, which would
have been photoshoped. She also plays netball which is keeping her weight average and her overall
health good.
However, Jim’s diet is very different as he eats quick to cook meals which are also at the same time
very fattening. He hasn’t got a lot of money which contributes to him not eating fruit and vegetables
as they can be very expensive. His diet is affecting him by causing him to have type 2 diabetes which
could be easily controlled if he took more care of himself, even though he doesn’t have very good
mobility, just changing what he ate could help him lose weight and hopefully control his diabetes.
Some changes that could help him control his obesity and diabetes are that he could start making
homemade meals instead of always having takeaways as they contain a lot of fat.
