P3: Explain how they key processes after disembarkation from the aircraft comply with legal
and regulatory requirements
The process of disembarking an aircraft
There are different ways passengers can disembark from the plane, for example by using an
air-bridge, steps or a bus to the gate, this is a process that will always happen in order to
safety get the passengers from the plane into the airport. An air-bridge is a movable bridge
which allows passengers to disembark from an aircraft. When the engines are stopped,
anti-collision lights are turned on, and chocks are place in front of the aircraft it would be
safe to go onto the air bridge. Air steps are a number of steps which are built onto an
aircraft so the passengers can board and leave the aircraft. When the air steps are in
position the handrails are able to be used so people are unable to fall of the air steps.
Notices ae also placed upright so passengers can see it as soon as they leave the air steps.
This means that they meet safety requirements as it ensures that no one would be able to
fall because of the hand rail. Warnings are also placed so they understand what dangers
there could be while using the air steps. Four flights attendants should be at assigned
positions near the doors and exits according to safety procedures.
According to the CAA (civil aviation authority)”passengers should be supervised by airside
staff from or to the aircraft while they going across a walkway.”
Once they are in the airport the passengers will be able to see different relevant information
on mobile phones, signs and customer service desks. Somebody that is a transit or transfer
passenger will need to know information about their next flight. A transit passenger is a
passenger at an airport who needs to change flights this means that they do not need to go
through customs or immigration. A transfer passenger is a passenger who continues their
journey by the same airport they arrived at so they will need the boarding information for
their next flight.
Passengers are provided with
information in a variety of
different ways such as visiting
the customer service desk,
looking at the directions
within the airport, they can
ask a customer service agent
about any questions they
have. This helps keeps
passengers safe because it
ensures that they are able to get information in different ways. This is important for people
who have a disability because they can use an induction loop, get a guide or ask a customer
service agent for any information.

Within the airport once they have disembarked there
are different passport/ visa, customs, excise and
luggage arrangements that need to be complied by.
A passport is a travel document which shows the
identity and nationality of the holder. It is a
requirement for anyone who wants to travel to
another country to have a passport. A visa allows a
foreigner to visit another or leave a
country. Customs are responsible for the
flow of good that arrive into or go out of a
country. Excise goods is duty on
manufactured goods which is taxed when
it is made. Owners of excise good must
get approval and registration for their
goods. It is important that you pay excise
duty if you import goods such as alcohol
and tobacco.
A passport is a document which allows you to travel to another country. A visa allows a
person to stay in another country. Customs are part of an organisation that deal with good
that are imported. Excise goods is when you have to pay tax on goods such as alcohol and
tobacco.
When passengers disembark from an aircraft they go into the airport and visit luggage
reclaim to get their luggage. Staff will check your passport and visa to see if it matches the
information that they have been provided about the passenger. They will also check to see if
their visa and passport has been expired. This is important because you cannot travel to
another country if you don’t have a valid visa and passport. Staff will also check to see if a
passenger’s passport is fake. This ensures safety because some passengers make fake
passports or they steal a passport in order to travel. Staff will know if a passport is genuine
by using equipment and their experience. This means that they will be able to ensure that if
someone does not have the correct travel details they will not be allowed to go onto the
flight.
Passengers will then visit immigration/customs where their luggage will be checked by staff.
This ensures safety because it means that if they do find any prohibited items in a
passenger’s luggage it will be taken away from them. Passengers may not be happy that
personal items such as sporting equipment will be taken away from them. However they
must understand that sporting equipment such as bats are not allowed because they can
cause harm to others. Staff will check to see if you have declared any items on the card that
you have been provided with. Items such as alcohol and tobacco are items that you have to
declare because they are excise goods and they cannot be above the restricted amount. For
