Unit 5
1. Inventory: All the products a travel company has available to sell to customers, such as air tickets,
hotel rooms etc.
2. Dynamic packaging: A way or arranging a holiday in which the customer chooses the different
elements, such as flights, hotel etc. from the options available on a website.
3. FIT (Fully Inclusive Trip): Fully inclusive tour or package.
4. Data aggregator: An internet company that collects information about other companies’ products
and services and puts it on a single website.
5. Meta sites: = Data aggregator.
6. Multi-channel distribution: The act of selling or delivering products in several different ways, such
as through shops, through the internet etc.
7. Single-site agent: A small independent travel agent who usually only has one shop.
8. Supplier website: A website where a supplier such as a person, company or organization sells or
supplies something such as goods or equipment to customers.
9. Principal: Most important one / The main person in a business.
10. To purchase: To buy something.
11. Be distributed: To give something out to several people, or to spread or supply something.
12. To evolve: To develop gradually, or to cause something or someone to develop gradually.
13. Impact: A powerful effect that something, especially something new, has on a situation or person.
14. Chain: A set of connected or related things.
15. Intermediaries: People who carry messages between people who are unwilling or unable to
meet.
16. OTA (Online Travel Agency): Online companies whose website allow consumers to book various
travel related services directly via internet. These are internet-based and don’t have a physical shop
or building.
17. To be in the driving seat: To be in charge or in control of a situation.
18. You have lost me: When you can’t follow what someone is saying.
19. To display: To arrange something or a collection of things so that it can be seen by the public.
20. CRM: The plan and system that a business had for dealing with customers over a period of time.
21. To turn into something: To change or develop from one thing to another.
22. Time-poor: Not having enough time to do things.
23. To commute: To make the same journey regularly between work and home.
24. Counsellor: Someone who is trained to listen to people and give them advice about their
problems.
25. Walk-in business: A store that you can just walk in without an appointment.
26. Ad hoc: Arranged or happenings when necessary and not planned in advance.
27. Enquiry: A seeking or request for truth, information or knowledge.
28. Commission: A payment to someone who sells goods that is directly related to the amount sold,
or a system that uses such payments.
29. Expansion: The increase of something in size, number or importance.
30. Current: Of the present time / recently.
31. Sustainability: The idea that goods and services should be produced in ways that do not use
resources that can’t be replaced and that don’t damage the environment.
32. Enviable: If someone is in an enviable situation, you wish you were also in that situation.
33. To require: To need something or make something necessary.

35. To be on the same wavelength: (Of two or more people) to think in a similar way and to
understand each other well.
36. Mutual: A financial organization that is owned by its members, rather than by shareholders.
37. Home-based travel agent: Travel agents who work from home, instead of in an office in a
company.
38. Pretentious: Trying to appear or sound more important or clever than you are, especially in
matters of art and literature.
39. Fiction: The type of book or story that is written about imaginary characters and events and not
based on real people and facts / A false report or statement that you pretend is true.
40. Brainchild: An original idea, plan or invention.
41. Sole: Being one only; single / Not shared with anyone else.

1. Be entitled something: When you are feeling that you have the right to do or have what you want
without having to work for it or deserve it, just because of who you are.
