● Set in the 14th or 15th century in Fair Verona.
● Written between 1591- 1596.

● It is a tragedy.
● It is a mediaeval or renaissance drama.
Characters-
● Romeo Romeo is the definition of what true love should be like. He is
so enchanted with the idea that love will out abolish the hate and
tension between the families. Also, he is a very optimistic and positive
characters to loves to let himself run away with his imagination.
● Julliete
● Fulgencio Capulet (Juliet’s father) He is a loving and protective father
to Juliete portraying that he only wants the best for her. However, in the
second half he reveals his true colours and is depicted as a violent and
ruthless possessor over Juliet as she finds love within the enemy.
● Gloria Capulet (Juliet’s mother) Even Though she is Juliete’s mother
they aren't close. She pretends like she wants the best for Juliete but
just desires power and believe Paris is best suited for juliet because he
has power. She isn't an angry character but doesn't agree with Juliet's
choices and does not act as a loving mother and try to help her
daughter.
● Ted Montague (Romeo’s father)
● Caroline Montague (Romeo’s mother)
● Tybalt Capulet (Juliete’s cousin) He is an irrational and aggressive
character with a need for blood. He hates the Montagues and seeks to
fight and defeat them. The most important thing to him is his place in
society, honour and respect.
● Benvolio (Romeo’s cousin) He is a calm and peace- seeking
character in the play. He acts as a realistic comfort for Romeo as he is
extremely close to him but will give level-headed advice on love. He is
the opposite of Tybalt.
● Captain Prince He acts as a division to the fighting between the two
families and separates them by using threats. He appears to be a fair,
just character that wants peace.
● Dave Paris (The Governor’s son) Paris is an affluent and well
regarded character in the play. He comes across well mannered and
cautious especially in front of Capulate because he is trying to impress
him so he can date Juliete.
