BCAT Test -Koegel and Koegel: PRT, natural enviro train Numbers to remember: - -recommend: 25-40 hours a week -"comprehensive" spcifically is usually 30-40 hours a week -ages most effective: 1-9 years (low as 18 months) Diff b/w evid based and non evid based - -reputable sources like peer reviewed journals (JABA and JEAB) or confercence (ABA) put on by good sources: ABA international, CAL-ABA -Not all these reputable and need to be checked before considered in cirriculum..... NON evid based: non-peer reviewed articles Reinforcement - -increases behavior in future Pos Reinf - -Adding something to inc future behav ex: >child says excuse me and you give high five...in future shes says excuse me again cuz you gave a high five >child curses and dad pays atten to child. As result dad gave atten....cursing inc in future even when not intentions Negative Reinforcement - -Take away something to inc future behavior -ex: >child says "all done" and you end aversive task. in future says "all done" to end aversive task >Child cries when hes asked to eat cilantro. Dad takes away cilantro. As a result dad taking away cilantro, crying inc in future ***wahtever stops/takes away something aversive kid crys cuz supposed to go to school, mom says okay, kids crys everyday so doesnt have to go to school Punishment - -ALWAYS dec future behav -teaches what NOT to do BCAT Test -needs to be paired w/ a replacement behav -must reinf replacement behav Positive Punishment - -Adding something to decrease future behav -Parent scolds child for hitting sibiling. Future freq of hitting dec as result of scolding. -during tantrum, child throws box of crayons. As result, mom makes him pick up crayons and two other toys (OVERCORRECTION, doing extra) Negative Punishment - -Take away something to decrease future behavior -child hits sibiiling and dad puts him on timeout. hitting dec as a result of timeout in future -Child loses tokens every time he bites his classmate. biting dec as result of losing tokens in future Conditioned Reinforcer - -Reinf that need to be TAUGHT/CONDITIONED >money >tokens, prase, stars, A+ >these have been assoc/condit w/ other rinf like acceptance into a social group >Also know condit punisher you had to be taught these to be punishers Unconditioned Reinforcer - -Reinf that didnt need to be taught/ condit -sleep, food, drink, desired temperature, sexual stimulation are things we need to survive so they were never tuaght/ condit -DO NOT need to be paired w/ any addit reinf to show that we want it -if need it to surve, they are condit Extinction - -Once you know the reinf thats maintaining the behav (functional reinf) you eliminate the reinf attention extinction - -no giving atten to behav (planned ignoring) >if childs behav is to gain atten Escape extinction - -dont allow escape -functional reinf is removal of a non preferred demand >>extinction here would mean follow through so you would not allow them to escape until they have completed the task BCAT Test Access extinction - -DONT allow access even after lots of excess behaviors Self-Stimulating Behavior Extinction - -wehre behav like hand flapping or rocking is what produces the reinf. -tricky if visual stimli is what they like -if after pain stim... can extiguish by glove preventing them from feeling the pain Deprivation - -also known as "ESTABLISHING OPERATION" (EO) -two types: >>STATE DEPRIVATION: ppl are motivated by a state of deprivation >>STATE OF AVERSIVE STIMULATI
