Introduction
In this report I am going to evaluate the extent to which the design of a selected
website helps the originating organisation to meet it objectives.

Amazon
Amazon.com, also called Amazon, is an American electronic commerce and cloud
computing company that was founded on July 5, 1994, by Jeff Bezos and is based in
Seattle, Washington.

Objective
Amazon solely purpose is to maximise profit,today Amazon sells over 480 million
products in the USA.
The mission and vision of Amazon.com is:
"Our vision is to be earth's most customer-centric company; to build a place where
people can come to find and discover anything they might want to buy online."

Evaluating Amazon functions
Design of website-
The design of web pages is again very important, as this is what the user sees when
they enter the website. Designs must be fit for purpose and they must be easy to
read, browse and fast to load. Amazon's website is clean and well laid out, with all
sections visible to users and all important parts of the page stand out for users to see
clearly, an example of this is the search pagination controls, in which the links are
large for users to see clearly.The design of web pages is key when making a
website.Their website is dedicated to the product pictures, as this page is where the
user will look first, which images of the product are shown, these are also very large
for the user to see the product clear.The website shows the price, colour and stock
levels of the product, this is also a large section so that the user knows where
everything is.

Visual appeal-
When entering the Amazon website the layout is flexible and adjusts automatically,
there is an explicit version of the site with a clean interface, less
clutter, and a clear hierarchy of the content.The main function of the images used
within the Amazon website is to show the consumer what the products looks like.
The images are therefore displayed as small thumbnails which can be enlarged to
show more detail if the user desires. Images seem “posed” as the photographer
attempts to make the item look appealing to the consumer.

Their visual appeal helps them to increase profit by attracting customers to purchase
from their website and making their webiste representable to use.The success of
amazon lies of selling goods via the amazon website, if the website cannot generate
and sales, the website has failed and the business will have failed – if there is no
money coming in from the website, the business will not be able to operate and pay
bills, therefore the retention of users through to completion is of high importance for
amazon, as with any other e-commerce website, as revenue is generated via the
sale of goods on the website.
