A - Airway--edema, vomit/blood, loose teeth, tongue obstruction, vocalization. Look in mouth, clear all/suction, maintain c-spine, cricothyrotomy or intubate as needed. B - Breathing--chest rise (symmetrical), rate and depth, accessory muscles, breath sounds, skin color. Do supplemental o2, BVM, needle thoracentesis/chest tube, nonporous dressing taped 3 sides. C - Circulation--rate and quality (core pulse), skin color/temp/diaphoresis, external bleeding. Control bleeding, 2 large bore IVs w/warm NS/LR rapid--labs, CPR, Pericardiocentesis. D - Disability (neuro)--AVPU, PERRL. Hyperventilate if indicated. E - Expose/Environment control. Remove clothes, check, cover. F - Full VS, cardiac monitor, foley, NG, pulse ox, labs. Family presence. (VS-5-Family) G - Give comfort, verbal reassurance, touch, pain meds. H - Head to toe. Maintain c-spine. I - Inspect posterior surfaces--maintain c-spine, log roll, look, palpate, sphincter tone. AVPU - Alert, reponds to verbal, responds to painful, unresponsive MIVT - Mechanism of injury Injuries sustained VS Treatment pre-hospital
