1.1 Aggravated assault:
Is an unlawful act of physically and violently attack a person/s with an intention to cause
serious bodily harm through the use of a deadly weapon. For instance, hitting one with a
hammer on the head.
1.2 A witness statement pertains to a signed document containing details of events
witnessed by an individual present during a criminal act. It's a detailed account of events
describing how an assault occurred- a fight among the spectators after a rugby match
following a tackle which broke the arm of a player; a place an assault occurred- local
school grounds; detailed nature of an assault- one spectator pulls out a knife during the
fight and stabbed three fans of the other team; and injuries endured by the victims-
three victims suffered stab wounds on their bodies. It also includes the full details,
description and address of the suspect- the name of the suspect, his/her place of
residence and physical features of the suspect which includes facial features, body
type; and his/her condition of during the act- was he/she under the influence of an
