What advice would you give to manage multicultural school setting like Nadima primary school?
Nadima primary school should hire culturally sensitive staff, they must hire teacher who are
knowledgeable, understanding and respectful of different culture ,they must ensure staff members
know how to cope and deal with student from different cultural background, because culture have
different ways of doing things and they also have different beliefs.
Nadima primary school should address and prevent discrimination –take proactive steps to prevent
and address discrimination or stereotypes surrounding certain cultures. Make sure all student feel
welcomed, safe and also supported in the school environment. They should not be discriminated
because of culture they come from. Which may make them feel not being one of the others maybe
because of rate of learners who speak specific language is not taken seriously. School should take
issue of discrimination serious and take steps to respond to them appropriately.
Nadima primary should embrace diversity- teachers must come with a way to celebrate the cultural
differences and create opportunities for students to learn about each other’s cultures. Establish a
multicultural group which can organise the celebration event among learners.it can make them learn
to engage to each other and accept multicultural in the school.
Nadima primary school should communicate clearly. They should establish open communication
channel between teachers, parents, and students. They must try to communicate combining
multiple languages so that every members from each and every language must feel included and
also see that school is trying all the best, by accommodating all student from different languages.
Nadima primary should create supportive environment they must develop a positive environment
where student can learn and thrive, despite any cultural difference .try to encourage respect and
tolerance for all cultures, beliefs and lifestyles. Provide resources and support for student who may
be struggling with cultural transitions.
Nadima primary should understand that people have different religious beliefs or no religious beliefs
and it may impact their participation at school. Student may react differently to the lessons based on
their religion or may not be able to be present on certain religious holidays, e.g. Indian children have
different religious holidays.
Nadima primary school teachers should design learning challenges to include student working
together .they must find a way which could bring student together through problem-based learning
