1. Getting information from the internet+ gathering/collecting specific information
2. Enquiry – This means to investigate a specific topic
3. Article – This is a document containing facts & case studies
4. Outcome – This is the result of a specific research
5. Practice – actions of something
6. Policy – These are known as rules and guidance of something

Research is a planned process in which information is a planned process in which
information gathered systemically for a specific purpose in a context or existing knowledge
and understanding, which the data obtained then is analysed and evaluated to enable
conclusions to be drawn regarding new knowledge and understanding acquired.
How to conduct research:
Identification of a problems / issues
Diagnosis of causes
Identification of potential solutions
Decision for action
Monitoring and evaluation of action and outcomes
Purpose of research:
To improve the outcome of people using services
To inform polity and practice e.g., 1990s national minimum standards poor standard of care
2000 and induction training all staff
To extend knowledge and understanding
Identify gaps in provision
Develop person centred care through research to improve the outcome of people using the
services
