Hegel, Heidegger, and Kierkegaard: Existentialist Concepts
Existential Concepts Existentialism is a term used by philosophers who view human nature and condition as a critical philosophical problem. Most of these philosophers share the opinion that the problem is best addressed and solved via ontology. There are several Existentialist philosophers, some of which include Soren Kierkegaard, Martin Heidegger, and Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. All these philosophers had their terms to define facticity and transcendence. This essay discusses where facticity shows up in Hegel, Heidegger, and Kierkegaard, the different technical terms used by these philosophers for facticity and transcendence, and how Kierkegaard and Heidegger's accounts are complicated than the simple facticity and transcendence pair.
