The point here is that politics is increasingly a textual practice, both in how it is constructed and presented for publics and how it is consumed or by audiences. But as texts, this engagement does not happen in a vacuum (Jones, 2005) Jones equates politics to a textual practice because it is constructed and portrayed to the public and how it is read and consumed by the masses. Jones gave this statement because politics has been ignored by people the masses and instead opt to indulge in entertainment, leading to politics entertainment nation. Humorists have taken on the course of passing political messages while simultaneously making people laugh. The question remains whether they trade in making fun of the political environment. As a result, the public now sees comedians as qualified political commentators. The quote means that the media has dominated the political field and converted to dramatic narratives constructed by entertainers. These narratives could then be passed on based on political seasons historical context.
